THE VENICE GLASS WEEK
Venezia, 10-17 settembre 2017
Rubelli, the historic Venice textile company, during the Venetian Glass Week – the first international exhibition devoted to the artistic glass - will host a selection of precious glass miniatures by Giusy Moretti: a special jewels collection created by the Venetian artist, using the rare and unreproducible glass miniatures (murrine) inherited from her glass-makers Masters ancestor (1870-1924).
All the pieces are exclusive and limited to the physical existence of the murrine in the collection.
Giusy Moretti only began to exhibit and sell her collection in the 90’s.
Setting the "gems of Italian artisan art" into frameworks of gold and precious stones thus creating an amazing and absolutely new collection of jewellery was the result of professional maturity deriving from a deep, unending love of her family's work.
For Giusy Moretti the creation of a piece of jewellery is not a mere job: it
is giving an ideal continuity to the work of her father Ulderico, of her grandfather Luigi and of her great grandfather Vincenzo ; after producing the daily quota of glass for business, these family members could, in the creation of the murrine, give free rein to their love of glass.
It’s interesting to realize that while the Morettis created their glass artwork, Rubelli (now managed by the fifth generation) created its own textile artwork, in particular precious handmade velvet that can still be woven in the Rubelli mill near Como. The Venetian company - now leader on the international interior design scene, both for residential and contract - produces a vast and modern range of refined furnishing fabrics.
During the Venice Glass Week , the visitors will have the chance to admire Giusy Moretti’s precious creations, which are the result of an excellent know-how and a great passion: definitely something in common with Rubelli.
